A Good Year
There’s No Heaven….Like Hell
Faced with losing Pandora Productions as well as her best friend Rebecca to the smarmy Paul, savvy film executive Debbie makes a pact with the demon Shaker, agreeing to bind herself to him as his human master in return for killing Paul. When the intended coup goes amiss, resulting in the deaths of both Rebecca and Paul, Debbie finds herself alone at Pandora’s helm, facing a rising tide of corporate enemies led by Paul’s duplicitous son Dante and the behemoth Titan Pictures. Shaker’s backing smoothes the way, solving some problems supernaturally, others through brutal bloodshed, even as he calls into play various preternatural and human allies to assist Debbie.
As the months pass, Debbie’s strong resolve begins to crumble under the weight of her actions, even as she guiltily concedes the pleasure she finds in Shaker’s arms is becoming something more than just affection. Is there hope for a happy ending built on so much evil? Or is Debbie doomed to lose her heart as well as her soul to a demon who has only been waiting for the chance to claim both?

We’d like to welcome Debbie Deal today to the site!

Q: Hi Debbie. Tell us about yourself.

Hi everyone. Thank you again for having me here, Sienna! <smiles>

My name is Debbie Deal, and I’m the CEO of Pandora Productions, an emerging indie film studio. I’m in my early 40s, currently blond, with hazel eyes. I’ve been interested in films since I was a girl, and always aspired to make great films, to be the person who gets credited with pictures that endure for generations. My best friend Rebecca and I started Pandora right out of college. Its success means everything to me.

Q: How did it feel to lose Rebecca? Do you feel there was something that you could’ve done to prevent her death?

Losing her was horrific; there’s not other word for it. I wish we had parted on better terms. She tried to kill me, but I got over my anger and forgave her. She didn’t deserve to die. If I had only known what Shaker planned to do to her letch of a husband, Paul, I’d have arranged to have her far away when my demon acted. I just didn’t know enough about demons then, back at the beginning.

3. How did you come to know the demon Shaker?

He appeared one night in late December at my office at Pandora Productions, and offered me his services. Initially I mistook him for an extra in one of my films, Hell’s Gate, lol. Then he touched my bare skin with his hand. He felt like an oven! I expected my skin to blister, but it didn’t, and he explained to me how he could take care of my problems, if I agreed to be come his Mistress, a.k.a., his human master.

4. What was it like “working” with him?

Shaker is great as his job. <laughs> At first, I was terrified of him, then over time I got used to him, and the things he’d say and do. I love men with a sense of humor, intelligence, ambition, a good work ethic, and yes, ruthlessness. Shaker’s got all of those attributes, and he’s been a real asset. He’s also sexy as Hell, pardon the pun!

5. When your relationship with Shaker evolves into something more intimate, were you surprised?

No, I think we both knew that in time, with all the innuendos he was slipping into our conversations, that we were going to have sex. I’m a mature woman in my 40s, and a lot less less worried about telling a man when I’m interested in sex, if he’s already made advances. What I’m surprised at is that it lasted, and evolved into a real relationship, and I think he was, too. <grins> His possession of Pandora’s star actor Jett Black was a smart move, too, as now he can physically assist me at Pandora, instead of just being present in my thoughts and working from behind the scenes.

6. If there is something that you could do over, what would it be?

I’d have partnered up with Shaker earlier to get rid of Paul, and made sure Rebecca lived. She would have loved to see Pandora now, we’re poised on the cusp of success! I just hope this New Year is just as good as the last one was.

Thanks a lot, Debbie! Good luck to you and all the best to Pandora!

It takes talent on the part of an author to get me rooting for someone who’s decidedly not a ‘good person’. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would recommend to anyone who likes something a little different in the way of paranormal romance and would enjoy a more mature heroine. Five Stars.
